Coming along beautifully Art. May I ask, do you use blending stumps or are you relying on skilful control of your pencil?Thank you John, and thanks for asking for the technique - I do literally mix of any technique that comes to my mind at the time... I'm not an educated artist, I'm just a person, who's been following YouTube tutorials to be honest... So I'm not bonded to anything John, to any order of processing the drawing... You are self-taught artist yourself, so you might understand well what I mean 😉. My main rule is - no rules 😉.

Looking good Art! And your comment about detail, absolutely - I always block in larger, simpler areas before I start on fine detail so that, when I’ve been working on it for months, it looks like I’ve made some progress 😁Lol 😄, thank you for encouragement my friend 😁 Yeah, it makes me wonder if anyone is appreciating daily updates, where is hardly noticeable any change to the drawing, lol 😆. I haven't finished the bottom foliage yet, and I'm looking now at plain top of the drawing 😅.

Concentrate on mum - who looks to be a VERY determined lady!, and get her right before you finish the foliage - well, that would be my advice anyway.... But your judgement is at least as good as mine!
My mum died what - two years ago? I can't draw her yet; too soon; I'm sure you'll understand that.

The way I'm drawing is going multiple places, improving spots here and there, then making adjustments on the go... I've seen artists getting the one eye done, then another eye, then nose etc. It's like puzzle on the table, one puzzle done, then the closest ... Even though I have tried to follow this routine, I cannot really do it this way 😉 And YES - I do understand feeling of losing somebody pretty well, I'm experienced (in bad way) too dear Rob. So sorry for your loss...💔 I'm not visiting my dad's grave.., and unable to walk the park I used to with my dog... Even after many years.

This is coming along beautifully Art.
It's funny how we're all different in so many respects. I lost my Dad in Oct 2014 and 18-months later, Feb 2016, I drew a portrait of him. I found great comfort in doing it and felt his presence throughout.
As for the order in which you do things, I'm one of those who do an eye, then the other eye, etc. but the important thing is to do it in whatever way is most comfortable to you.

Yeah - we're all different, and that's good thing. I used to practice oils and have been following an artist on YouTube, that attracted me most teaching his way of painting... He was like you, one face feature at a time, as best he could do at single session... At next session he was finishing it up and moving to the near by feature, like nose or the forehead... I have tried to do same thing but gave it up soon after. Lol - my brain can not do that this way 😅 My brain is a grasshopper (lol) 😉 Thank you for keen words John.

It's FINISHED !!!
I think I could carry on digging into small details, but I can live with this efect too, it's not overdetailed and not too flimsy - I hope it's balanced enough.
I have tried make faded and blurred foliage around, and the mum's face more pronounced in comparison.
I hope it worked.
Thank you very much for following dear friends.
