Thought you might like to see how I build my pictures. This is the first layer of paint, Daniel Smith in this case, after the pen drawing. I will add more paint and then go in with Prismacolor pencils before adding extra detail with pen on top.
It's a slow process as my fibromyalgia means I can only really do an hour at a time before pain or shakes gets intrusive. Stops me trying to do things before it's dry.

Thanks Carol. Most of my drawings start off like a colouring book page I always think. I often put one of my long gone beloved dogs in my pictures. This one is Harley my Weimaraner. I've had a lot of very nice comments about my cottages, especially the stones, so I just thought I'd put a very early stage pictures up.

Thank Carol. I've put the picture up now. My style has changed over the years. I used to stress over hyper realism in graphite, pen and ink. Because of the pain I'm often in and hand tremors, both caused by fibromyalgia I changed my style, by creatin̈g my own. However I think I have been influenced by Japanese and Korean urban sketching and illustrations. Even though my work is quintessentially English in its subject matter. I'm also into a nostalgic halcyion England that probably never existed. I've been shocked at the positive response to my art on here.

Julie! Lovely to see how you begin to create your wonderful artwork! It is fascinating for me because of my totally different approach. OK, I sketch first with a pencil and paint over it, so the pencil is usually invisible. But having it done with a pen is quite lovely. I may try one day :)
(Fibromyalgia... Nattokinase can help. It is an enzyme. Side effects are almost none. I know this is not a place to mention it, but if it can help...)

Thank you Rhia for liking my art and for FM info. I will look it up. Though I've spent thousands trying to find a cure. I manage it pretty well these days. Not great for art as I have spasms and tremor at times. However as for my pen work, I often go back in with pen on top of the watercolour or coloured pencils. The coloured pencils love going on top the watercolour. I'm about to do some more houses. This time weatherboard ones on Cape Cod and Maine USA. I will of course be using a photo reference for these.
I do love your birds by the way.
