Ok so this isn't paint or pencil or any other medium we would normally associate with art, but i adore fibre art, there's something about the feel of it is just so special, and just want to share my latest piece with you all that I'm doing between other projects. Its a coral inspired wall hanging rug. Made from crochet, pompoms, latch hook and locker hook stitches. Using a variety of yarns and stitchs for texture. I will update a little a day until its finished. I hope you dont mind me posting?
Post away Jen, this is something I know nothing about, but it is painting in wool ? . Will you add some fish ?
It is applying a medium to a surface, so that sounds like painting to me. Go for it Jen. Would love to see the results and your thought processes for how to progress it.
Any form of self-expression is art; post 'til your heart's content
Jen - tapestry, felting, needlework, working with fibres CAN be crafts, it can be art, and I don't really see the need to build walls between different disciplines because it's all about creatve endeavour using materials: so I agree wiv my friends! Post away.
Jen that looks fabulous and in my mind it is art so post away, it's so good to see all the various ideas people have.
I really like this artwork Jen, so do keep posting. It will be most interesting to see how it develops. Incidentally you are not the only fibre artist on POL, have a look for Barbara Shaw on the Gallery, she does some fantastic work with material. And Adele Elgood is another fibre artist who used to visit the Forum, you'd still see some of her work on the Gallery too.
The sunshine is very welcome, Jen, as is your fibre artwork. Its looking good. Thanks, Sandra for the info about the other fibre artists.
A marvellous build up of texture, Jen. I wish I could say I've been to some lovely places in the last two days, but I can't grumble I have some wonderful scenery to admire as I go about my work :)
The rug is coming on a treat.
It really looks amazing Jen, I can see there's a lot of work going into this. Are you going to put it on a wall? It's really too nice to use as a rug!
I like the sandy effect around the urchins, that's lovely.
