Michael I also have fat fingers...it's a common trait on this site . I am so happy your picks ow the correct way up....I can see what it is. And it's not so strange. I like what you have don3 with the background it's working well. F yo7 do anything similar again you could sta4t with a very dark all over back ground. Eg a very dark blue, green;,red. I mean REALLY dark .almost black. Your pic will sing.. it's looking good.

How do, Michael, and welcome. I use a desktop pc, not a tablet or other camera, but I think the answer to getting it the right way up is a) turn your camera/tablet/phone to a direction in which it photographs the subject as you want it to appear, and/or b) adjust the picture in a software application like Nice file viewer, Serif or something similar, because if it's the wrong way around on your device, it'll be the wrong way around here, too. Like your painting - the green is a good idea, and you just need to finish off the foreground with the colour you've used in your background, slightly varied, darker or even lighter.
I do like the drawing, which is 90% of the battle - it just needs setting off. Oh, and if you have a mug to spare - the one thing I'm REALLY good at is breaking mugs - 3 this year alone..... Pure clumsiness, can't even blame tremor, because I don't have it.
I think by the way that if you got the foreground to sing out loud, you wouldn't even need to worry about adding shadows - many artists would be quite happy to have a more stylized, outline-type painting. letting the colour do all the talking - we can always imagine shadows - I sense people saying "what's the lovable old fool talking about now?", but really, I wouldn't worry about them.

I didn't think the subject at all odd, but didn't want to argue with you. Well - frankly, who would?

Having just re read that gobbledygook I have had a giggle . I looked at Micks original painting sideways on (. Sorry Michael just stand there and whistle while me and him discuss your painting. ..........I saw a host of snakes....I did I really did...writhing .
My eyes are a bit odd and it was sideways on so I thought it strange. Come back now Mick all forgiven...Robert is Mr Nice and always sees the good in people and paintings...I don't. So beware.
So happy they are not writhing snakes...or are they,? my eyes is funny. .

I will stick to your "a" suggestion as "b" would be beyond me. I'm afraid the mugs belong to one of my daughters, Lorna. I'm afraid she is the wrong way up also. I Thing I will stick with the stylized style.

Michael, Sylvia has a medical issue with her eyesight, and I have an arthritic one with my neck - so Sylvia doesn't see too well if she has to adjust her vision to a sideways on picture, and if I try to turn my head too far to the side, there's an ominous 'click' and instant pain ensues!
On the technicalities - even I can use the Nice view file correction - I'm sure you could, too.

There are other sources/websites you can download it from, including the Microsoft store, which would ensure the download was completely safe. I'm sure your younger family members could help you with this.
PS - like the portrait of your daughter, so far as I dare swivel my head to look at it. And yes, why not stay with the stylized version sans shadows, it does seem to work for you.

I've got an outside chance of getting a new hip operation. I bet you would swap a sore neck for a sore hip any day. Not much chance of getting a new neck. I'm getting images in my head of Frankinestine running a race against Long John Silver :-)
