Hey, thanks, Tessa, for the generous comments. Much appreciated.
It's funny how one thing leads to another when that itch sets in. I've been looking at Glen Byshe's sunsets, as per Robert's suggestion, because I'm not giving up on them yet.
Still, I'm liking these calming evening paintings more and more. Dare I try a seascape. *smile*

Thank you very much, Jen, for dropping in to share your thoughts. Appreciated.
I quite liked the snow scene myself but it wasn't to be. I wasn't offended by her honesty and hopefully she'll like the new version and style when she sees the most recent paintings.
It's a funny thing, but I doubt I'd have ever painted them if it hadn't been for her request. It's been a journey and it's still not over. *smile*

I like the first painting, it has life and a lovely atmosphere, but there we are, each to his or her own.
Your moonlit stones have a certain darkness about it that adds an ancient stillness, and mystery. marvellous work.
Really do hope your sister likes the painting, you've worked hard on this. You deserve a successful 'many thanks, brother' for this.

Thank you very much, Jen, Dixie, Carol and Sylvia, for the helpful and encouraging comments. Gave me a boost it did.
Sorry about the tardy response but I've been working on a large seascape, whilst simultaneously deciding on and finishing both versions of Castlerigg.
Your mum's a tough nut, Jen, but a little brutality sometimes helps in the long run. *grin* Keep at it, like those busy bees you paint!
I've made a few final changes, for better or worse, Dixie, and it's a little cleaner, I think.
She did choose one eventually, Carol, and liked it so much she posted it on facebook for her friends to see. It actually got a great response. *smile*
She's a treasure really, Sylvia, just very honest. Anyway, she's a black belt judo expert. *lol*
I offered two completed paintings and she chose the second one with a huge shriek of "Thank you". So all's well that ends well
Well, that brings this little saga to a close so thanks to everyone for the support along the way.
