In the April issue of LP mag. KDBurton a beginner in watercolour uses strident colours like thalo blue, viridian etc.seemingly because he believes they are transparent.his letter is in defence of the colours I said I didn't like because of their aggressive nature. Now I believe that most colours I have tried are transparent in light washes , such as for skies and for banishing the white of the paper before starting a painting. The same colours if only lightly diluted can in a number of cases be nearly opaque. it is interesting that paint manufacturers no longer have O,T ,ST or O marked on tubes to indicate transparency etc. nor does this appear in the likes of Jackson's colour displays
for the various makers, bar one. K D Burton's letter then goes on to describe mixes he uses which although interesting they ,on the whole would be a no-go for me . have a look at his letter in conjunction with my post and (I hope )discuss. cheers...Syd :-)
