I have often watched TV programmes and DVD's of artists painting and they don't seem to change their painting water often, if at all. By the end of a painting the water often looks filthy.
I change my water lots of time during a painting. I will always change it before I tackle any sky I am going to put in (comes at the end of my painting usually - not the beginning) and I certainly change it often when doing skin tones for a portrait.
I can't see how you keep watercolour clean and fresh if you are using dirty water.
Am I alone in being manic about clean water?
