Rather than thank you all individually I would like to say it in one post. Your very quick replies have exceeded my expectations. So thank you all for the help and advise. I will try to take it all on board and be much more calm in my approach; do more testing of colours and such like. Though choosing a subject to get started on will probably still hinder me!
It's true that contradiction, sometimes by the artist themselves has thrown me somewhat .. use of a certain brush for foliage and later another type of brush or sponge is used instead, for instance. As a result I now have a bucket load of brushes, all types and sizes, masses of tube paint, pan sets and watercolour pencils and sponges to of course. :-)
I certainly have no excuse of not enough materials....just a lack of imagination perhaps! :$
