I thought oh well it is quiet on here .. so lets try a wake up..call .. I notice some great pen and wash paintings by the old masters and ones done by recent watercolourists like wesson and fletcher watson, if you look close at ted wessons pen and wash watercolours,, he often used a special technique ,,he would line out the top of a building or a shed,,(to show planks of wood ), or in his paintings of st Pauls,, to do beautiful free style windows, fletcher watson used a conte pencil to get the rough cotswold stones on cottages I do know .. can any one tell me what kind of pen or pencil they used ??? I know they used a lolly stick for lining ,,but not for a lot of the work on roofs and boats , has any one else noticed this its like searching for the holy grail .
