I seem to recall past discussions on this subject but probably worthy of fresh debate. I find it awful stuff to use but when I do, and that is rare, I tend to use a stick to apply it - no messy brushes and reasonably easy to control. Anyway, I try to avoid it where I can and my latest watercolour posting is an example of how I avoid it. It contains a number of stakes in the middle ground which I loosely painted round preserving the white of the paper - much more appealing to my eye at least than it would have been had I used the dreaded fluid. I wonder how others get on with it
