I think most people know that I am not a limited palette sort of gal and have 27 colours in my paintbox at the present (not all in use at once!). However, I often see paintings and wonder what a certain colour is as I find it so attractive and artists don't always tell you what has been used. I am not talking about mixed colours, but pure pigments as you buy them. I was just wondering if anyone had used any unusual or particularly effective colours in a painting and what they were. I think most people have the cobalt.ultramarine/burnt umber/burnt sienna/raw sienna colours, etc. I saw Jake Winkle using cobalt turquoise to great effect in shadows and thought that was interesting. Daniel Smith do some very different colours - anyone used them and for painting what? I find that you get stuck on a set of colours and it is nice to branch out and use something you are not familiar with occasionally and see what you can do with it.
