I managed to pop into the Bankside Gallery (London) yesterday, which I think is a base for the Royal Watercolour Society.  They don't have a large exhibition space, but never mind the quantity, feel the hues. This month is an exhibition entitled Autumn: Now and Then.  I particularly liked the palette of Sue Howells. https://www.banksidegallery.com/exhibitions/72-rws-autumn-now-then/works/ I also picked up a booklet for bedside reading, by Hazel Soan published by Collins. 10-minute Watercolours. In there, was a quote I must remember all the time: "Keep in mind that you are using the subject matter to create a watercolour, not using watercolour to recreate the subject"! I have a camera for the latter purpose.
I tried to go to the RA last week for the very late Summer Exhibition but couldn’t get tickets for the day I wanted to go . I like Hazel Soans work as well , so right use your camera but a sketch book is even better .  So spent a strange day in London Zoo it seems sadly lacking in animals , so came back to my beautiful north Wales to breathe and possibly go to  Chester zoo.  Keep up theGallery habit Norrette I envy you that.
It might comfort you to know that I couldn’t go to the V&A in Dundee, when I was there- closed on the days I was available.  Looks good from the outside though and looks good against the Discovery.  I did go in the MacManus Musem/art gallery though.  Went to Twyford Zoo on the way back, but not nearly as good as Chester.
Thanks for the memories Linda .  Loved Twyford  one of the giraffes decided he was in love with Bill.yes Chester is pretty good.
Thanks both.  I'm lucky living near a tube line on the outskirts of London.  Made an effort to visit most of the London galleries over the last few months.  With the exception of Tate Modern, as there was nothing I saw on their online permanent collection that appeals to me. (I once used to like modern art, too) I missed out the Courtauld collection, but I see they are hoping to re-open in mid November. There's a free exhibition amid the permanent collection, including watercolours, on until February. 'Pen to paint' or something like that.  Will book when it seems they're sure of the opening date.
