I have ordered some from Jacksons Art online, have read quite a lot of good reports about it on the Pet Portrait Forum, only one person said they didn't like it. Will report back when I have tried it for myself. Barbara M.
Barbara - I'd be interested in the pets portrait forum - where do I find it please?
I have been off line for a bit with computor problems, still havn't got the Pastelmat paper as they are out of stock, must be popular !!. How did you get on with the Pet Portrait Site? It's great isn't it, so many good animal artist's. Barbara M.
Hi Barbara, yes it is a great site. I registered but seeing such great work on there has made me wonder whether I'm worthy to be a member!
Hi Roobs, Yes I thought the same, I posted a couple of pastels & then had trouble with Photoshop, Mellanie was very helpful but I can't seem to post anything anymore & I am not computor literate !! Oh Well, I now just look at what other people are doing & enter in discussions on other subjects such as types of pastel paper etc. Barbara M.
Barbara - I sometimes have problems with computers too! I'm OK when I'm told what to do but trying to figure things out by myself can take ages *-) I'm not brave enough to show any of my pictures on that forum because other peoples' artwork seems so superior to mine.
Well, it's arrived, and what do I think of it .............WONDERFUL !! It is stiffer than Velour, which is not a bad thing, it takes quite a few layers of pastel, and is just great to work on. Have you tried blue-tac, Roobs, to erase the unwanted marks?I find it does a good job, better than a putty rubber. But I am working on ' Buttercup' so the marks are not too bad. I am very happy with it. Barbara M :-)
Barbara - I think I should have got the colours you have, mine are a bit dark. Right, that's another "want/need" item on my list :-D
Hi Guys, its Melanie here! My google alerts sent me a message that my site was linked here and its fantastic that the pet portrait forum has been recommend on here. Barbara, drop me an email with your username and password and ill try to sort out why you can't login. It will be great to have you back posting again. For the member who was worried about putting their work on the forum, please please don't worry, everyone is at a different standard and all our members are so lovely you will definitely get a warm welcome at any time and so don't be afraid to post your work :-D Most of all, everyone is really helpful and can help you move forward with your work. Its amazing how some members who have been there from the start have improved over time. Its all about practice and observation and the observation part and the forum go hand in hand as everyone can help in that area. We also have a really exciting competition at the moment if anyone here is interested, ill add the link below. The prize is a wooden box presentation set of 120 Derwent artists coloured pencils worth £155 and Pollyanna Pickering is judging the winner on October 31st 08. Everyone has an equal chance, it doesn't matter what standard you are send in an entry - you never know! You can find out more about it here - http://www.pet-portraitartist.com/forum/competition2008.php My husband is itching to try Pastelmatt but we haven't been to an artshop or done an order to get any yet, we have had some great recommendations of it. He works solely on velour for cats, dogs and horses, and would really like to try it. its so difficult to keep velour in pristine condition. This is his website if anyone is interested. http://www.dog-portraitartist.com/ Now i have found this forum im off to have a look around! :-D
I am sure that some of you would like to see a small demo by this artist. Watch this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ew-rBWZ1Sg
