Being that I seem to get through inordinate amounts of Raw Sienna I wondered what people would do if, heaven forbid, the manufacture of it (and/or its close counterparts) ceased. How would people cope with the loss of a favourite, relied upon colour from their palette.
Would we see people jumping off tall buildings or setting light to themselves? (no that's stupid with petrol the price that it is.
I know it is highly unlikely to ever happen and there are always substitutes and hues to replace them but they are never quite the same.
I finally ran out of my Grandmothers W&N Yellow Ochre that was at least 35 years old (thats how long the old girl has not been around) she was an inveterate hoarder and I inherited about a dozen or so unopened tubes. This was still usable after softening. The depth of the colour and pigment was far superior to its modern day counterpart.
What would we do, it would be like taking away the local pub!
