I know it is a question of taste but I am trying to find out which frame to use for a series of paintings which I am preparing for an exhibition at a museum. Please help and click on the link to take a look at the pictures and cast your vote. https://landscapeartblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/18/which-frame-looks-best/
Done
Also done. Personally I wouldn't use either...I think your lovely paintings would work really well in a very neutral frame. Soft grey, Off white.
No good asking me, because I love ornate gold frames - and they're nowhere near as popular as they used to be; if you want a contemporary look, they're to be avoided, as is my advice. But I do like the oak, and you can get lighter shades of it.
Thank you all for sharing your views with me. At present the voting stands at 61% in favour of the wooden frame.
The wooden frame is best IF it wasn't so thick and overpowering. I chose the gold frame even though I don't think the gold is best for that scene - simply becasue the thinner frame suits it better. I think the wooden frame the same thickness as the gold, perhaps a LITTLE thicker, would be best.
Thank you again. At present the voting has dropped from 61% to 56% in favour of the wooden frame. Perhaps I should have added that it is only a miniature at 10x15cm.

Hi Pat, A very nice painting, as for the frame, being an old codger I do like gold frames, however I voted for the wooden frame as I felt it projects the painting far better than the gold one. Good luck Rob
I voted for the wooden which I feel shows the painting off to much better advantage but, like Sylvia, I must admit I would prefer something a tad more contemporary.
Simple solution go to a professional framer...pick their brains. It works for me every time.
