Anyone in POL in WC too, like wot I am? It is a massive international site, similar in theory to POL but with many more forums and details.Bit of a rabbit warren to get to grips with if new but I have found it invaluable over several years. Just asking.
I was a few years ago Derek but as you say a bit of a rabbit warren to get where you want to be. I shall have a look again but I find that this site is the easiest to navigate around.
I go there once in a blue moon - more of a labyrinth than a rabbit warren, and there's an awful lot of sheer silliness in the forum posts; it does normally get corrected, but I've seen some completely barking mad advice there at times. That's not really the site's fault, it's just that it's so huge, and tries to cover everything. I'd like a bit more visual content, too. But yes, it has its uses. I prefer this one, by a long way.
Thanks for the feedback. I much prefer POL but having been in WC a long time and know my way round, know a few folk and have attended a few of their UK meets, I am sticking as it is useful now and then.

Never found that Fluffy. The worst most precious attitude was from a lady in arkansas or wyoming 'ish. I had posted my finished work of a dressage rider commission and she tore it apart with Photoshop or similar sending me back the image and scathing comments that the horse wouldn't move with the joints and muscles I depicted. She had posted red marks round every damn joint etc. Considering I was in those days very fastiduous about detail and accuracy and was working from a semi pro large scale photo I knew I was right but she didn't take prisoners. I go a lot of support from other artists who took her apart in the end. My client and family were most appreciative and it's hanging in their grand hallway now.
I've been on WC for about a year now. I like it, I've learnt a lot from the people there and the monthly challenges in various subjects / media are pretty good, and get you working on things you wouldn't normally. It's a bit of a clunky site, it takes a while to find everything initially but it's worth looking at, and it has a great photo reference library. This site is a lot cleaner and easier to navigate. I can see what Fluff is saying, there are some highly opinionated people on there. I've seen more than one thread where people have posted wonderful artwork and asked for constructive opinions, only to be told off for not using artist grade paints, or for using a grid, or something else they haven't asked about. And then there are the interesting discussions that descend into arguments (the on-going thread about alizarin crimson in the watercolour area for example). But a lot of forums have these issues. I do feel that it's missing a members' gallery area though, as I love browsing through pictures.
I look in wet canvas .,I find it very interesting ,I like people sending pics of their studio .(where they paint )and their thoughts on art .the variety of their ideas , and so on , I don't take in what they say ,or bother about their criticism .I gave up on experimenting with lots colours ,years ago .my palette of eight colours has not changed for years ,(but it was so enjoyable trying out, and looking at box full of colours,in the start of my journey into art).. the numbers given for paints and make up of paint ,that some members think is important ,in art,,I have no interest in ,, but yes ..I love to nosey around wet canvas and this site . and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I do enjoy the banter ,
Nicely put Trid and Alan. The photo gallery has proved very successful for me especially in bleak no inspiration times and there have been a few over the years. Clunky yes, quite right but once you've found the way round, you tend to limit to your faves and it works a treat.
Syd, where are these photos? I cant find them David
No and thanks Syd
And also why should we google it, where is it on the home page?
