I have accepted a low key secret commision from a pal, to do a painting of his son and DIl's house as a wedding present. It is a typical Brit terrace and has nothing different about it, but I would like to do a quirky image rather than a plain one.
I have got a sketch and photo and can get there easily to update or correct but I need idea for quirky image. Does anyone know of an artist I could look up for this type of work, buildings of course.

How about putting a photograph onto your P C then using something like the "distort " key if your P c has this facility. Dont really know if this would work I am thinking as I tap. I am doing a sketchbook collaboration and the next book I shall inherit is architechtural memories. Like you I dont want to just do a "straight" drawing/painting. A thought.

Hmm. Terrace houses. Anybody else got the Coronation Street theme running through their head?
Emphasise the colours, "find" the bright colours hiding behind the duller tones... Strongly linear composition ...
House as home... open windows, curtains fluttering in the breeze, cats on windowsills...
Artist to look at, largely unrelated to above: James Neal. Example: https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/19775/lot/26/

Look at Anthony Green - quirky distorted paintings, humorous, mainly interiors.
