Hello Could anyone please help and advice me on this painting and print, I believe, thatvwere found in attic of my 1890,s built house? Does anybody recognise them? Cannot find any signature on either. Thanks Jonosss
Here we go again. No idea; you'd be better off taking it to a dealer or an auctioneer.
Agree that a valuer or auctioneer would be better placed to give an opinion but from the photos I doubt they have any great value.
So far as I can tell from what's on the screen - the top one is an oil painting by an amateur artist, using a well-known technique with the edge of a flat brush - sort of early Bob Ross, if you know who he was. Unless it IS a Bob Ross (in which case it would have rarity value, but it would be signed in red on one corner) it's not worth anything. But it could be cleaned, prettied-up a bit, probably re-framed and it would look ...... OK. The second is a much better painting in its rather static way, but looks like a print of a watercolour - and again, it's a pleasant enough picture, but not worth more than a pound or two: prints are very rarely worth anything, but cleaned up a bit it'd be quite pleasant as a way to enhance the décor. I see there's what looks like a signature in the bottom left corner, but I can't enlarge it enough to read it. I fear your attic has not yielded some overlooked treasure - in which you and I are, sadly, as one.
Actually looking again, that's not a signature it's a bit of hedge.... not that it would have made any difference, I fear.
