Just to pick up one thing - I've posted a good many paintings over the years, and the secret is bubble-wrap and quite a lot of it. I use Parcelforce/the Post Office, and haven't had a problem yet. Mind you, I never try to ship glass, and I much prefer it if people sort out their own framing. Even so - it's movement inside the parcel that damages pictures (apart from bad handling by the courier): minimize that, ensure the cushioning fits snugly and thickly, and you should be all right.
As for selling this painting - well, if you do so privately, I doubt you'll get into trouble: it's exploiting an existing image for commercial gain, eg having prints made, getting it transferred to mugs, bags and all the rest of it, that can certainly awaken the aggrieved copyright owner; but just selling one picture to a private customer .... it may be a technical breach (I've not seen the print, so don't know how close the resemblance is) but for $200 I might take the risk. But then - I'm very, very bad.

Thank you Splosh, I'm up to four people that want to buy it now - typical! - although a good confidence booster.
And thank you Richard for the postage information. I can't imagine people trying to ship something involving glass, that seems doomed to failure, and yes, I can see me on Amazon bulk buying bubble wrap :D And that's interesting to have your take on the commercial gain side of things. For interest (if it is interesting :D), here is the print I used as inspiration, first time I have seen a print with the signature included, by someone called E Brodsky by the looks of it, although I have trawled that name and various 'cow', 'cow painting' etc and I can't track the original artist down.
