What is the reason for all these long 99...numbers insead of peoples names . Nom de plumes are bad enough when we really want names ,which ia a more friendly way of communicating. Is the number idea a POL thing and if so why ? Syd 89 .

Syd, I think the numbers are generated automatically when you register and forget to enter your name. POL should change that and insist on at least a pseudonym, but will they.
With Sarah, Phil, Ellen, Rose the dentist, and the granddaughter whose name I forget.

If it can't be done in account settings - and it would appear that it can't, from what several people have said - then this is something POL needs to look at. Dawn knows the site still has a few glitches, and she, like us, is learning as she goes. So it may be possible to change your name in future, even if it isn't now. I think in your place I'd simply register again - actually, I wonder if THAT'S possible, using the same e-mail address.... But I have two e-mail accounts, and of course you can have more than that - hotmail, g-mail, yahoo, all offer e-mail facilities. So maybe use a different e-mail, and register all over again with it, using your own name this time. It's a work-around rather than a solution, but if you really want to use your own name (and I agree, it's much better if people do) this may be the only way of doing it.
