Hello,
I have a painting that was purchased in Istanbul, Turkey at the Ciragan Palace Kempinski Hotel during the late 1990's. I'm looking for the artist's full name so I can ask him about this painting and to see if there is a way I can see his other works. He signed it M. Mohamed at the bottom. I believe he used mixed medium, however I'm not entirely sure of all the materials that were used. I'm hoping I can get some help here.

The nearest I've come to this is the work of Fahad Kholaif - who doesn't, unfortunately, sign himself as M. Mohammed.... and he's a citizen of Saudi Arabia. I realize that's totally unhelpful! But it's an indication of how hard it is to find non-European painters - and of course Mohamed is an extremely common name in Islamic countries. So all I can say is that I like the painting, and hope you find an answer. I see you've also tried Redit - so know there's nothing on the back to give any clue, and that you were about to try checking with the hotel from which your parents bought the painting. I assume that produced no answers. If you DO find an attribution, I hope you'll share it with us here, to help us with identifying similar works; is there no Turkish authority, museum or gallery, which you could consult? If the painter is known - there has to be a record somewhere.

Its a very interesting piece, multi denominational as well as multi media, I think.
I'd wondered if they held auctions at that hotel, but it seems not, so it must have been part of their historical collection.
It might be worth trying Bendor Grosvenor, or Waldemar Januzczak on social media (X, unfortunately) I think it would make an interesting television short about the hotel's history and the picture.
Do let us know what you find.
