I found infrared inscription underneath of a painting I own. WHy would a painter do this? The painting is very old, oil on canvas. It is French in origin and is dated around 1880.
Top left states Ciran With the C being of Cedilla C. Middle top states regne Top right states Masy and Under neath the word Ciran is the letter Miran regne MasyM
Why would a French artist do this? Is there significance with the placement and location of the words?
Any insightEdited
