I entitled a recent painting Winter, Moon Rising (it's on here, in my 2013 portfolio), but my husband thought it was the sun, not the moon, before I told him the title. A friend came round today and saw it, and thought it was an early morning scene too.
Also, I'd thought of the water as a river, but it reminded her of a lake she knows. So I can see how it's maybe a good idea to keep a title as neutral as possible really, and leave it to the viewer's own imagination. Any suggestions on a neutral title?!
