Hi all, Can anyone enlighten me as to the protocol of using photographs for influence in a painting? I don't mean exact replication of the photograph, but rather checking the poise, lighting, stance etc. of published pictures in fashion magazines and the like. I often have this debate with my friend, who insists that as long as a painting of someone from a published photo does not directly identify them, then it's fair game. However, I think that there must be rules to be followed regarding copyright. Anyone help here?
