I've noticed some artist mention the "Blue and Brown Thing". But what is it? Any comments please?

I hazard a guess. Blue and brown make a good black or warm or cool greys. Ultramarine and burnt umber or burnt sienna are the ones I use . one artist may say to another" you could mix violet and orange or use the blue and brown thing."Well I guessed this Splosh , dont say I didnt try.....Syd

No idea - specify context and I'll have a go at understanding it. Brown can work with blue, I suppose - but then so can much else. Nah - details, Splosh, who said it, in what context, where, when, how? Come on, assist us here.....
