Has anyone tried Kristy Rice adult watercolour books, did they bleed through the paper. The paper is normally too thin, this book is thought to use thicker paper, but does it really work. I would like to hear your comments, or recommendations.
Hi suba. I don't know the Kristy Rice books but I was looking on You Tube a couple of months ago, and a watercolourist was looking at the adult colouring books. He recommended books like "Enchanted Forest" and "Secret Garden" by Johanna Basford for having watercolour quality paper. I think they are a little more expensive. I should think that there are other books out there that could be used for watercolour, but you may have to research.
I've always been a bit dismissive about colouring books but used in the way you describe, Suba, I can see them being a useful resource.
I use colouring books Michael and I remember putting a blog on about them. I think they are great for relaxation plus they give confidence to people who think they can't paint. In time I think some of those people will take the next step in art - can't be bad!
The local library are offering courses on colouring books.
That's surprising Derek. My local library likes to pretend it doesn't exist.
There are so many out there now and they were really designed for crayons or coloured pencils, even some felt tips bleed. You do need a single sided print and I would think 140lb should be the thinnest if you don't want it to buckle up. I have had a few books from The Book People who are very much cheaper.
