The Forum is being kept alive by a faithful few which is sad. For some time things have been very quiet - very little discussion or new topics. I've been wondering how this state of affairs has come about. I think perhaps it may be due to migration of members to Facebook and Twitter.
Painters Online have a presence on both of these social media sites and it is easy to post paintings to them and wait to see what happens. I use both sites but mostly to talk to close friends and family rather than painting. I also follow Darren Woodhead on Twitter - his watercolours of birdlife done in front of the subject are stunning.
Both Facebook and Twitter allow you with one click to befriend someone else and I wonder if small groups of PO Forum members are getting together to chat amongst themselves. I don't think anything can stop this trend - if it is true. I do think though that the Forum needs to keep going to help and advise new and inexperienced painters.
