I notice that when I post a topic on the forum, I am automatically described as New Member whereas I have been around POL for a number of years. Is it something to do with the new format or is it something I have to update myself - if so, where and how?

That happened to me. I was a 'new user' but had been on the site almost from it's creation. I contacted Dawn and she got the technical chaps to sort it out. I morphed into a 'Forum Guru' - whatever that is, lol!
