You know I really do think that whoever is running this site is really missing a trick... it's got so many little foibles, limitations etc that it really doesn't need to have. And yeah I know its free... but then so's everything else I'm talking about here... First up: bizariosities eg: logging into forums. If I'm logged in to my gallery / blog and go to forums I get a server error. if I logout of the site and then log into forums I'm OK. etc. Bizzare - surely 1 login would be much more raionale... and TBH easier to code. Second: User profile and linkage of galleries, blogs etc, etc... why can't everything be linked to a user profile. So if you click on my username you can see my profile, gallery, blog, all posts and comments etc. What I'm talking about is really a unified user account. Perhaps you should also see responses to the comments here... maybe this is the homescreen for users. Third: Functionality of blogs.... for gawds sake the blogging tool is utterly pathetic here... and its such a shame 'cos it really is one of the best ways of building community. At least give us the ability to have multiple pictures / post, video, put in links to other web pages etc etc... even the basic fuctionality of blogspot would work... until then I'd always push my blogspot pages rather than my POL pages. Fourth: This forum tool that's being used.... again limited functionality etc... I don't really understand why you didn't just take a decent public domain, open source one and configure it.... if you want to see forums done well have a look at www.wetcanvas.com Fifth: Got to sort out the searchability for work added after your last visit. the way stuff just vanishes at the moment is irritating both for the painter and the commenter. Anyway there's my thoughts. I quite like POL because of its UK focus (rather than WC which is more US centric)... but the facilities need work to support community building. Cheers, Ade
