I may be turning into Mr Grumpy, partly as a result of the recent pop up advert debate, but there is another thing that I do find disappointing.  That is, when you search the gallery for a particular artist the paintings are now semi-randomised.  Now that's great if you want to browse an artist's portfolio, but frustrating if you are looking for something specific.  This morning I wanted to revisit one of Alan Bickley's paintings, which I had noted a few days ago - in fact it turned out to be six days ago.  I eventually found it by  the 'Search Gallery' tool but I had to scroll through to page 10 before I did find it.  Admittedly that was better that scrolling through the gallery on a daily basis, as that took me to page 12.  Would it be that difficult to add an extra button or two to the "Search Gallery' tool that would give the option between chronological and random?
Tony - I agree with you. The same applies to searches here on the forum. The search results appear to be a bit random.
Tony, you have to select the artist first, then the posts will be in date order.  When you do a search in the gallery it will come up with a random selection for usually just that artist, but above that it will say ‘We have artists that match your search, click here to search’ - from here select the artist you want.
Thanks Jenny.  'Artists that match your search' takes you to the artists page, and although when you click on a gallery the paintings are indeed in chronological order, you do have to scan through the sub-galleries that the artist has created.  Even so, it is quicker than the basic gallery search for a recent posting, though I would still prefer an option to display the results of a basic search in chronological order.  The really strange thing is that the basic search results do not seem to be entirely random, there must be some kind of algorithm.  I searched for the same painting 2 hours later, again using the basic gallery search with the artists name, and the posted work was still in the same position on page 10.  How odd.
