I suggested elsewhere that the use of digital technology which is beginning to feature in The Artist would best be served in a separate publication, or as a supplement. I have done a quick google and, unsurprisingly in techie world, such magazines exist but only online, e.g. http://www.digitalpaintmagazine.com/ Is this something the publishers have considered? I jumped the gun here, it looks as if the above link is to a printed publication in the US. Still, food for thought.

Again metallic acrylic paints exist...best applied in several thin coats to a black gesso ground. This also applies to iridescent acrylics.
