*-) Can someone please tell me about Encaustics, all I know is that it is a new medium .I live in Spain and have found it difficult to discover anything about this medium ( can`t even buy watersoluble oils in any of the local art shops!). I think this could be a good subject for an article in The Leisure Painter. :-)
DVD brilliant - great locations, have booked a week next year with Alvaro Castagnet with a company called EPC (enjoy painting catalonia), they also have Charles Reid, Judi whitton and other impessive tutors. I met a watercolour artist last week who uses this company and recommended them :-D
Wow. He just seems to slop the paint on, what a skill he has, fantastic paintings!
Thanks Aqua...what wonderful brush work...I'm dead jealous Norah
He makes it look so easy :-S
This is a trailer for Alvaro's dvd - for the English version try the APV Films website. And you might like to feast your eyes on this - http://www.alvarocastagnet.net/index.html I love the quotes on his website, here are some: "To illustrate by re-creating is not painting. Don’t paint illustrations" "Good art goes beyond intelligence. Be naïve" "Do not let what you are looking at dictate your painting"
Saddly two of our valued members seem to cross words on this thread. For the sake of all artists, would it be possible that you both draw the line and start afresh again. Please no more said on this thread or forum.
Coleen - buy the DVD or put it on christmas list - its worth it, beautiful locations and an inspiring artist :-D
From apvfilms.com and it runs for 90 mins I think , so is good value and his english is perfect - he now lives in Australia, see Enjoy Painting Catalonia (EPC) is reviewed in this months leisure painter

Norah the advert for the film says he lives in Uruguay.  I love to watch someone paint like that. Making my Christmas list.
