Well, there was a Modigliani that sold for $120 million the other year; I don't think anything's exceeded that yet.

Some American chap (now deceased?) whose name I cannot recall but it starts with a B had a 'modern' painting auctioned in New York earlier this year for US$80million so that might be a more economical investment.
