Yesterday I did a couple of landscapes outside, on a sunny but cold and windy day. I could fit the two completed paintings in the lid of the pochade box I use. I'd have liked to have painted a couple more, but I had nowhere to store the extra panels.
I know you can buy special boxes to carry extra panels, although they take up a lot of space.
I once read an article by Ken Howard, who said he used special double pointed pins to carry wet panels. Four pins are stuck in the corners of the painted side of a wet panel, then another wet panel is pushed onto the pins. The painting surfaces don't touch because they are kept apart by the four corner pins.
Has anybody any idea what they are called and where they can be bought please?

I believe that you can make something like that with a cork and some needles.
Like they say here:

As to boxes... Well, I make them out of cardboard to fit my canvases. They have the advantage over pins that they prevent vegetation gaining egress when you're scrambling over a stile with overhanging branches...
This is how I make my boxes:

Hi there, I do know the pin things you mean but I prefer the matchstick method for panels. I explained how it works on this blogpost ...

My latest W/b oil painting on the gallery disappeared very rapidly and i dont want to disappoint my fans. It appears that after all this time that my name is now Edward with no Syd in front of it and my IDpicture has me upside down at times. So please have a look and see what you think of it. I will appreciate your comments ......Syd Edward ( with the Syd added)
