OK so at the moment I use 2 jam jars of white spirit for cleaning my brushes. One is always dirty as I use this first, then I rinse them again in a second jar of cleaner solvent.
When the 'dirty' jar gets really bad I tip it into a huge old coffee jar and put clean solvent in it. This then becomes my 'clean' jar that gets used second.
My question is what to do when the old coffee jar gets full? I know I should leave it to stand and let the sediment settle so I can use all the white spirit again. I think I read somewhere about using coffee filter paper to separate the sediment.
Also what should I do when I can't use it anymore? There's a recycling centre near me that takes old batteries and stuff so should I take it there? I know its illegal to put it down the drain which I don't do.
(hence the huge jar full of old white spirit and the reason I rotate my jars, to use the solvent as much as possible, plus its a shame to waste it)
