Just thought I'd pass this on to any newbies to oil painting, of which I am not.....
I had a recent 'commission' for a beach scene involving the family of the person.
As a hobby painter I thought I'd better get it right so gridded it up in pencil. I couldn't see it so well so over drew it in fine permanent marker. DOH! Might be permanent in watercolour but not in oils. How many encores did that appear with!
Finally locked it in with Alklyd medium. Never has 'watching paint dry' been so stressful. Got there in the end but it does nothing for your momentum.
