I watched the first of the four competitions last Tuesday on sky arts. About a dozen artists, divided into three groups have to paint a portrait in four hours. The models for the day were John Humphries, Sol Campbell and an actress. The best picture chosen by the judges was fairly good, although I thought that some of the others paintings had caught the characters of the sitters better. It seemed to me that the judges were looking for pictures with bright colours, strong compositions and weren't too bothered if the portrait wasn't a very accurate representation of the sitter.. What did other people think of the programme? http://www.sky.com/tv/show/portrait?DCMP=KNC-
