Ok, fellow artists...try this!
I have been experimenting various ways to gain maximum texture, working on various surfaces, and the latest attempt was painting on hessian glued to board!
No way would paint brush on, even though I prepared the surface with several coats of gesso, so the entire painting was done with palette knife. Boy, what a challenge! Anyway, the finished product was worth the time (took me an age!) and I achieved the effect I was after, great texture and illuminates beautifully under lights. However, took an enourmous amount of paint,and a long, long trime to complete it! The size of the painting was fairly large,5ft by 4ft, and it will cost a bomb to frame (lucky I frame my own!) but a whole new expierence! I posted the painting on my gallery site, for those interested to take a look......who said artists are mad??
