I purchased Robert Jones's excellent Oil Paint Basics a little while ago, and have finally put a review on Amazon UK (I am AmazonFan). I would rate this e-book as a must especially for anyone starting out (I just wish I'd known about it two years ago), and useful for more experienced oil painters. Very readable and easy to understand, and Robert's humour will give you a few chuckles too. As there have been queries recently about oil painting I thought it worth drawing to the book to people's attention.
Just one query Robert. None of the illustrations show in colour on my kindle, is that the fault of Amazon (I had to buy through Amazon.com) or of my kindle do you know?
Just one last thing. Robert, you do have an excellent outline right there for a similar book on acrylics.

Well how kind - not that I'm saying you're wrong, mind you.
I have no idea, I'm afraid, why the colour illustrations only appear in black and white - if I had half the energy I was born with, I'd revise it in line with knowledge later acquired and try harder (or even just try) to get it published in a paper edition. I need to be pushed to do things these days ....
And yes, it would indeed by a template for a book on acrylics - similar problems on the energy front: but perhaps now, armed with these recommendations, a publisher will approach me. (I do realize that there is no great chance of that, and I shall have to stir myself.)

Should be OK on other e-book readers, but you don't need a Kindle: there's an app on the Amazon website which will enable you read any e-book, you just have to install it (it's free).
At a pinch, I could bung it on a CD-rom and send it to you, which would probably cost you about the same is buying the e-book.
Sorry if this is advertising, Dawn, but well....... they did ask!
