All of this talk about preparing MDF panels is a bit prosaic, so I thought it might be fin to start a thread on oil mediums.
Questions:
Do you use them?
If so why?
If not why not?
Do you use traditional mediums or modern ones?
Just to get you started I LOVE the heritage of oil mediums, using what Turner or Constable used on the same kind of painting gives me a real sense of touching history. More practically mediums are essential for controling some oil techniques.
On the negative side mediums normally equate to 'special effects' and a lot of good painting requires nothing more than , well, good painting. So over using mediums is a bad thing.
