As eveyone knows, Una excluded, a mahl stick is used to steady the hand when needed in painting when a shaky hand would spoil an important detail , a straight line
for instance or a fiddly bit of the picture. I made for myself a short mahl stick which is great when used with the brush handle against it and carefully sliding the brush down it thereby producing a straight line of paint as for boat masts etc..I may add that the stick should be held at a slope but that should be evident. Not everybody knows that
way of using the m.stick ......Syd
