This is well worth a look, on YouTube: Christian has some of the cartoonist's instincts, and maybe some won't like his painting style in consequence, but there are many interesting things to look out for in this video, from the way he lays out his initial strokes of paint, the high key in which he paints, and the use of relatively small, flat brushes with which he's able to draw with great precision.
The filming and sound are a bit wibbly-wobbly in places, but I think much can be learned from his video demos - much more than you're going to learn on a number of paint-along-with-the-experts on a certain painting and drawing channel I could name. There's no commentary on this video, and if there were it would be in French, but I don't think it's needed.

Robert Jones (29/07/2015)Fascinating stuff Robert. What i would remark on is the absence of real darks. Also i thought that the right hand building was painted a bit flat especially just to the right of the rusty tank where the building appeared to come forward. Very adept painting with a stubby old flat and worth seeing nevertheless.......Syd the crit.

It's the relative absence of tonal contrasts which produces the very high key effect and also a slight inclination towards the cartoon - you'd recognize his work from a mile away, I think; yes, the late indication of the sky is interesting, as it's normally the part I paint first; and he seems to be working on a pale grey surface - not sure what it is, it looks too even to be applied paint. I shall certainly be looking out for more of his work - he shows quite a bit on Facebook (if you can stand Facebook...).
