I've been painting with oils a long time but recently I have been having a few problems with using black to cover larger areas of the canvas. I have noticed that it is drying patchy. Most of the area dries with a matt finish but there are parts that still look wet. They have almost a glossy sheen to them. I have tried using different brands, mixing with various solutions (turps, linseed oil....etc) and even different types of canvas and linen. I am still having the same problem. Any ideas as to why this happens?
