One of the virtues of working on canvas - I was admiring - well, all right, looking at - the latest stage of my oil on ACF canvas, thinking it looked OK; then noticed that the bit I was looking at with the greatest interest actually had no paint on it, other than some Burnt Umber and Ultramarine I'd used to show the shadow - the canvas isn't the startling white of some cotton duck canvases, and it took the light shining through it to apprise me of the fact that it was nude, befeft of paint..... I'm almost tempted to leave it like that, but won't.   What I will do in future is apply an Imprimatura - which I normally do, but was beguiled by the different appearance of the canvas. Anyway, back to work: I hope I don't go and ruin my painting by actually adding paint.....
