Just thought I'd mention the new series of guides to oil painting, which I have recently added to the tips & techniques area, put together from Alan's series in The Artist, useful hints and tips from Christine Pybus and others. There are three parts so far - the first can be seen here https://www.painters-online.co.uk/tips-techniques/oil/articles/discover-the-basics-of-oil-painting/ Just working on a few articles on how to switch from watercolour, pastel or acrylic to oils too. Hope you find these useful!
Steven Weight - in reply to your question today, this is an excellent resource Painters-Online are making available, and there's a lot there, and in my mighty Opus, which is just as relevant to watercolour and acrylic painting, particularly on the colour mixing question.
Robert - many thanks for pointing me in the direction of the resource above , in addition to the colour-related parts I found answers to some other questions  too .
