I read from his Facebook page that Adebanji Alade has been elected a full member of the ROI, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. This is a fantastic achievement - the ROI has a deserved reputation of being extremely hard to get into; and Adebanji was once a regular contributor on the POL gallery, and has had articles in the magazines, so we enjoy a sense of vicarious pleasure at the very least, and actually I'm sure a lot more. He's one of our own, and deserves his success.
Not familiar with him or his work but will seek enlightenment with interest.
Have now had a look at his website and recognise him from the Sky Landscape Artist of the Year programme. I thought his painting of Lyme Park on that programme was very good but too representational for the judges...who preferred people who cut out bits of paper and stuck them to the canvas. Don't get me started on the Art Establishment and what Fyfe Robertson (remember him?) many many years ago memorably called 'Phart' (Phoney Art). Adanbanji is a talented fellow and judging by his website has a many faceted talent.
He is a smashing guy as well as a talented painter and a great friend of mine. I am over the moon that he has been made a full member! I am also very happy because I was elected an Associate member! :-)
Seconded ---and thirded!
