I am finding canvases are becoming more expensive and as there are only 2 art supply shops in my Spanish town there is no competition in price. There is a chinese shop which sells very poor /cheapish canvases which are fine for small sizes but not rigid enough for anything over 30x40cm.
I was thinking of buying wooden panels from a D.I.Y store, which I can have cut to size.
I have noticed that a lot of artists use wooden panels,so can anyone advise me what to look for ie,thickness ,preparation ,are they harmfull to brushes, does anyone prefer them to a canvas support ? etc.
Any advise at all will be gratefully recieved. *-)
