A visitor, last weekend asked this simple question..."what does your art mean to you"? As far as I can see a topic we have never directly addressed her on POL...? Some of my answer was along these lines... "My art is about a subject rather than a painting of a subject". "Art for me is a passion to produce at least thirty artworks on stretched canvases using acrylic paints in a year, this is have achieved each year since the start of 2007. Ultimately an artwork reaches its critical point: it is finished, it is signed, the emotional connection between me and the canvas is severed. Some of these artworks are offered for sale via my website as I have no desire to retain them as precious gems". "Through my website I share my art with the world yet at the same time I'm in control of my reputation as an artist.  I need to be in control of my: message, my story, my destiny etc.  Only the best artworks are shown. Only those that I love. Only those that have the quality that contribute to the message I want to share.  Only those which are the pure expression of my vision are shown. By being selective I hope my artworks reveal me to be an artist".  "If I were to release everything that I painted, the good along with the bad, the message would be diluted. My work would not have that focused message that I try to show the world. Some of the artworks may be technically good, but they do not add to my message. These remain unseen". OK: over to you just what does your art mean to you?
