So today I was in the mood to paint something but struggling to figure out what when my husband suggested that I revisit an old painting and recreate it. That what a great idea I thought.
Then it occurred to me exactly which painting to recreate. You see my very first painting experience last year was a truly awful one. It was in oils and I had no clue what I was doing, it remained cast aside, unfixed and unfinished. It was supposed to be of my cat Twinkie. So today I set about repainting in acrylics, and I have to say that seeing progress was a real confidence booster for me. Here they are together.
Does anyone else have a similar compare and contrast?

Carrie, my first painting experience, like you was last year. My first attempt at grapes went terribly wrong. You can see, they look like sprouts. The next one I did soon after to prove to myself I could make a better attempt. The third is one I did recently. We learn from our disasters. I still laugh when I look at the first picture of grapes. I like your cat by the way.

Those are some gorgeous pictures Denise the glass in the middle painting is fantastic, I see what you mean about the grapes.
Seeing the progress made is such a confidence booster I think, it was a really useful thing to do and I may end up revisiting some other old paintings and trying them again I think.
