On a recent painting i painted a church spire which was too large and prominent to the point of detracting on the main subject. I had a small piece of household type stain eraser(I think it was) so I moistened it and wiped gently across the top of the church spire and it disappeared totally . After my initial surprise i successfully removed therest of the spire without trace . I painted a much smaller spire in its place ....job done. In an order from Ken Bromley I have included a pack of magical watercolour eraser and am looking forward to a useful tool to remedy my mistakes in watercolour , which we all make. Yes you CAN remedy these mistakes now , so CANT is no longer the word which deters people taking up watercolour.
That sounds excellent Syd. As long as it’s used for real corrections and let the happy accidents stay.
It's the unhappy accidents that worry me - I shall look out for Syd's eraser - I have the Ken Bromley catalogue, and two Jackson's catalogues: what I don't have is enough money to immerse myself in all the goodies offered by both........
Syd, I use the magical watercolour eraser from Ken Bromley and it really does work. Another method I often use for correcting watercolours is to apply a thin coat of gesso mixed with a little watercolour to the area you want to correct, and then paint over it when dry. Watercolour handles very differently on gesso, but I've usually managed to get the result I want and it's very useful for saving an otherwise potentially ruined painting.
I've used mine many times and it works a treat.
I'm going to try the household eraser stuff first as well that someone else on here mentioned, as you are on the money Syd its exactly what puts me off using watercolour - I couldn't get rid of mistakes!!
Sounds brilliant Syd!
